ABOUT SUSSEX UCU
All local branches of UCU are run by an executive committee, voted for by the members of that branch. The committee consists of academic and academic related staff who volunteer to look after the interests of branch members. They meet twice a month and attend meetings with university management.
Exec members undertake specific campaigns and roles, and act as caseworkers for members who are experiencing difficulty at work.
We are always looking for volunteers to help us with the many and varied aspects on local union work. Facilities time (time off from your regular work) is available to anyone who wishes to undertake union work for Sussex UCU. Please email email@example.com for more information.
The Sussex UCU Branch is governed by both local and national rules.
The national UCU rules are available here: https://www.ucu.org.uk/ucurules

WHAT IS UCU'S ROLE IN THE UNIVERSITY?
UCU is the recognised trade union for academic and related staffs employed by the University on nationally negotiated salary scales. UCU therefore represents teaching faculty, research and analogous faculty, administrative faculty, library faculty and other faculty.
UCU's relationship with the University is governed by its Procedure Agreement.
This Agreement specifies the terms and conditions of employment which the University has to negotiate with UCU before changing.
